Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (Russian: Иван Константинович Айвазовский) 1817-1900, was born in an Armenian family as Hovhannes Aivazian in Feodosia, Crimea.

Famous in his day in Russia as a seascape expert. During his 60 years career, he produced at least 6000 paintings and perhaps twice that. Today, he is mostly regarded for his waves, some of the best ever painted.
