The Mad Funk of Fadoul

In 2012, record collector and music label founder Jannis Stürtz was roaming the streets of Casablanca, Morocco when he walked into an odd-looking electrical appliances repair shop. There he found a pile of records abandoned in a corner and covered with dust. There he found Fadoul.

Fadoul or Fadaul or Fadel but really فضل, actor, painter, musician, was born in the gritty city of Casablanca, Morocco. He died in 1991 after having recorded 4 albums (perhaps more on cassette tapes).

Jannis Stürtz‘s Jakarta Records/Habibi Funk Records reissued Fadoul in 2015: Fadoul on Habibi Funk

Sid Redad is a wild cover of James Brown‘s Papa’s got a brand new bag in Fadoul‘s first album in 1971
