Giulio D’Anna: Sicilian, Futurist, Aeropainter

Giulio D’Anna (Villarosa, August 30 1908 – Messina, November 18 1978). Little is known of the life of the artist who never left his native Sicily, far from fashionable art centers. In 1934 became the first Sicilian artist to be exhibited at the Venice Biennale.

Aeropainting (Aeropittura) is a sub-genre of Futurismo, or Futurism, an Italian art mouvement of the early XXth century that embraced the modern age and its technologies as beautiful.
