अवलोकितेश्वर, also known as Avalokitasvara, is the Bodhisattva of Compassion, and is portrayed as either male or female in different cultures. Guanyin is one of the female depictions of Avalokitasvara as is Cintāmaṇicakra (see Post 1) is one of the male ones.
This posture is called the Water Moon, seated with the right knee raised and the left leg crossed before the body.
