Russia is the country of flags and banners. Even small towns often have interesting, surprising or artistic flags to proudly display. A good start is the Republic of Tuva, on the border with Mongolia.

The Tuvan people, along with the Yugu (or Yellow Uyghurs) in China – are one of the only two Turkic speaking nations who converted to Tibetan Buddhism. Tengriism (Mongolian Shamanism) is very much alive and practiced as well. Tuvans represent 90% of the population, t Traditionally herders. Their music is sensational.
